During your three years of study you will have two individual and one joint lesson a week on your principal instrument, in addition to orchestra, choir, chamber music, harmony, aural practice, history of music, piano, voice training etcetera. You will also study the core subjects required for general eligibility to studies at post secondary or university level.
Individual electives add up to 300 points (see attached curriculum). There are many rehearsal rooms at the school and the premises are open to all students between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. every day.
There are also student facilities such as a music library, kitchen and a laundry room. Lunch is free at the neighbouring Kristinegymnasiet and accommodation can be arranged in a rented room, a flat or in a student room.
We will gladly help you with the arrangements.
Applications must be submitted no later than March 1. You will be called to an entrance examination during the spring and seek admission solely on this audition. The audition is performed before a jury and includes playing two pieces of your own choice on your principal instrument, an aural exam and a simple sight-reading test. The Falun Conservatory of Music welcomes applicants from our neighbouring Nordic countries.
