What makes the training at our school so unique?
What are the differences between the specially designed programme at the Falun Conservatory of Music and the upper secondary Arts Programme?
There are several important differences between the specially designed programme at the Falun Conservatory of Music and the upper secondary Arts Programme.
•
Length of individual lessons: all students at the Conservatory of Music have 80 minutes of individual instruction. In most Arts programmes these lessons are only half of that time or 40 minutes.
•
One joint lesson together with an accompanist every week: As a student at the Conservatory of Music you will have time for rehearsals with a pianist and a performance every week. Few, if any, other schools are able to offer the same.
•
The specially designed programme gives optimum opportunities for practising. Eligible courses are Rehearsal Technique 1, 2 and 3 through which you will learn how to practice efficiently as well as get extra time on your schedule for practising. These courses are not available at any other school.
•
The Falun Conservatory of Music offers excellent practising opportunities. Each student has a rehearsal room that he or she shares with a fellow student.
•
The subject Symphony Orchestra rarely exists on upper secondary arts programmes. In addition, we emphasises Chamber Orchestra and Chamber Music at our school, which is not always the case on other programmes.
•
The Falun Conservatory of Music offers a specially designed programme devoted classical music. Other arts programmes involve music in more general terms.
•
The Falun Conservatory of Music is in possession of two new Steinway grand pianos, three new Kawai grands and a new cembalo.
•
The frequency of master classes under the direction of well-established and leading musicians and teachers is very high. Click on Guest Teachers on the menu.
•
High level of students’ skill: Owing to this specially designed programme students’ skill improve rapidly, which makes it possible to keep a high standard on repertoire and teaching. Young people who begin at our school develop fast as a result of the stimulation from older students. The high level of students’ skill ensures a continuously high quality. The last few years, students from the Falun Conservatory of Music have won practically everything at the RUM-SM Festivities for young musicians, and some of them recently won gold at the World Music Contest in Holland.
•
Collaboration with the Gotland School of Composition: For several years now we have collaborated with the Gotland School of Composition. This collaboration is quite unique and has been observed on a national level by the Swedish Radio and the Royal College of Music. We consider it a part of our continuously ongoing renewal work.
•
The Falun Conservatory of Music aims at increasing international cooperation. Within the framework of EU’s exchange programme we have carried out an exchange project called “Leonardo da Vinci” together with a school in Barcelona.
